A semi-automatic defibrillator donated by the European School of Banking Management to the community of Barialto

A semi-automatic defibrillator donated by the European School of Banking Management to the Barialto community to create a cardioprotected area.

In recent days, the European School of Banking Management donated a semi-automatic defibrillator (AED) to the community of Barialto, because we believe that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is important and strategic for the development and well-being of the local area. These aspects go hand in hand, and there can be no real and lasting corporate growth without promoting the well-being of the local community. This is why, for fifteen years now, we have made ethical values a key element of our business.

Personally, I believe Social Responsibility is a tool for achieving the balance that individuals and companies should find between economic growth and the well-being of society and the planet. Each of us is responsible for our own actions: as a company, we strive to do our part and take on commitments that can have a significant impact in each of these areas. Profit as the sole corporate objective (Henry Ford) is a concept that I consider "sick" and outdated.

Speaking of defibrillators, it's estimated that over 60 people in Italy suffer cardiac arrest each year. Every minute that passes after cardiac arrest, the chance of survival drops by 10%: after 5 minutes, the chances of survival are 50%, and after 10 minutes, they're zero. Thanks to the intervention of defibrillators available in the area, survival increases to 30%.

Using these automatic devices is extremely simple. Any volunteer responder can intervene: the defibrillator performs the rhythm analysis and decides whether or not defibrillation is indicated. Widespread distribution throughout the country can only yield positive results in the prompt management of emergency patients. This is also confirmed by data from the 118 emergency service: the increased distribution of automatic defibrillators has aided the management of emergencies in this area.

The donated defibrillator is a LIFEPACK CR2 WI-FI, a next-generation American defibrillator with integrated connectivity and the crucial child mode. It's the only AED to create a direct connection with 118 emergency responders. The lifesaving device, donated by the European School of Banking Management, is installed in the reception area, where the AED station has been set up.

With actions like this, we want to leave a tangible mark and teach new generations about the value of the common good.

Therefore, it is not the donation itself, but the spirit of giving that is the fundamental dimension for the local welfare system, for social cohesion and the civil and moral growth of our community.
