Inauguration of the 2016/2017 academic year and Round Table "IV EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive: How is the landscape changing?"

The inauguration ceremony for the 2016/2017 academic year will be held on Friday, October 21, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Bari (near the airport).

The inauguration ceremony will be preceded by the Round Table "EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive IV: How the landscape is changingModerated by Dr. Matteo Tonelli, the meeting intends to analyze the evolution of the scenario of those who operate in the sector, with a particular focus on some of the obliged subjects, such as banks and gaming and betting companies, through the Director of the Customs Agency, Rachele Chants; of the former Director of the Bari and Trento branches of the Bank of Italy, Giorgio Save; by QI Solutions founding partner Andrew Wilson and the director of the European School Banking Management, Sergio Silvestri.

Starting from an analysis of the innovations introduced by the Fourth European Anti-Money Laundering Directive, the scheduled sessions will analyze the evolution of the scenario for those operating in the sector, with a particular focus on some of the obligated entities, such as banks and gaming and betting companies.
After decades of legislation aimed at combating money laundering and terrorist financing, the European legislator has decided – among other things – to broaden the definition of the crime, including tax crimes related to direct and indirect taxes, and to extend the regulatory obligation to entities trading in goods, in addition to financial and credit institutions and natural and legal persons.

This means that, to fulfill legal obligations, the subjects subject to the obligations must employ qualified professionals capable of recognizing, reporting, and verifying suspicious transactions.

Following institutional greetings from Senator Massimo Cassano, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, the roundtable will feature, among others, Giorgio Salvo, former Director of the Bank of Italy's Bari and Trento offices; Rachele Cantelli, Regional Director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency in Stano; Matteo Tonelli and Andrew Wilson, founding partners of QI Solutions; and Sergio Silvestri, Director of the European School of Banking Management.
