This February in Cape Town, we witnessed a historic moment in the field of global financial security. An intensive week of training organized by the FATF Training Institute, supported by the European Union, brought together experts from 18 African countries, from Angola, Botswana, Eritrea, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and delegates from Finland, Germany and Jersey. 

This event underscored the FATF’s critical role in enhancing countries’ understanding and expertise in Anti-Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism, and Countering the Financing of Proliferation (AML/CFT/CFP).

Expert trainers covered a wide range of topics, from risk assessment to internal cooperation and international information sharing, emphasizing the importance of beneficial ownership, financial intelligence, asset recovery, and many others.

 This comprehensive training highlighted how the FATF's multilateral approach is essential in strengthening the capacities of participating countries to effectively counter ML/TF/PF.

The head of the FATF Training InstituteJoël Godard emphasized how these programs are vital to helping African countries develop their capacity to effectively combat ML/TF/PF, thereby depriving criminals of their illicit gains and improving global asset recovery. This initiative demonstrates the power of training in combating money laundering and related financial crimes.

In parallel with this global effort, our school plays a key role nationally and internationally in providing quality training in this field. Through our programs, we actively contribute to strengthening professional skills and promoting high standards in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

Our mission, enhanced by our strategic partnership with ACAMS, reinforces the concept that education and training are fundamental pillars for building a safer and more honest global financial system. By joining forces with ACAMS, a renowned authority in the certification of AML specialists, we extend our reach in enhancing the professional skills of our graduates, preparing them to effectively address the challenges of money laundering and terrorist financing.
