Another year has passed. A symbolic year: 2021 marked the beginning of a recovery phase after the lockdown and uncertainty associated with the 2020 pandemic. Not only that, in 2021 we celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of the European School of Banking Management. This milestone, which makes us particularly proud, was achieved by navigating and overcoming the crisis in the education sector years ago, which prompted us to redesign our School and focus on the specialization of anti-money laundering professionals. This year, we also strengthened our partnership—the only one in Italy—with the prestigious international anti-money laundering association ACAMS. With this agreement, our students can also earn the CAMS certification by taking the exam in Italian.
The pandemic has brought new challenges, and our school has had to rethink its teaching methods with technological updates and a conceptual shift in teaching.
While the lockdown has put our lives on hold as we wait for a return to normalcy, criminal organizations in our country have seized on the deluge of bonuses designed to support families and businesses, or have leveraged new and poorly regulated payment systems. This is why ongoing training has been crucial, for the dissemination of an anti-money laundering culture that encourages the identification of potentially risky activities and enables companies and professionals to mitigate money laundering risks using all the tools at their disposal.
Everything we accomplished in 2021 is the result of great teamwork involving our staff and faculty. To them, to all the students, and to our partner companies, we wish everyone a very Happy Holidays.
