The European School of Banking Management inaugurates its academic year in Rome.
Award-winning students and recent graduates ready to embark on internships. The inauguration of the 2019-2020 academic year of the European School of Banking Management (Scuola Italiana di Anti-Money Laundering & Compliance) took place in Rome. School Director Sergio Silvestri and CEO of EM-RISK Servizi Italia, Enrico Ciprian, inaugurated the twenty-third academic year by organizing a roundtable discussion on "the main innovations of the Fifth EU Directive and the resulting implications for those subject to its obligations." Experts from the Guardia di Finanza, the Italian Revenue Agency, Asso AML, and Unione Fiduciaria discussed the topic.
Following the roundtable discussion, the traditional awards ceremony and diploma presentation took place. In addition to recognizing the companies that have invested the most in anti-money laundering projects and training—including Banca Popolare di Puglia e Basilicata, Banca Monte Pruno, UBI Banca, Banca Popolare Pugliese, Icrea Banca, IVRI, and OAM—the school awarded the "Best of the Year" award to the top student in Italy. This award goes to the student who achieved the highest grades compared to all students enrolled that year, not just in their class. The recipient of the award was Joseph Malvisini, AML Officer at Sisal, while last year's Best Student was Alberto Armani, Group Anti-Money Laundering Manager at UBI Banca, who holds a record of only one error in 1000 applications. Along with the managers, three recent graduates also received their diplomas, having had the opportunity to attend the Master's program alongside the student-workers. Specialization in anti-money laundering is highly sought after by companies, which have offered the three recent graduates a training internship.
Among the companies that received recognition were Gamenet, Betpoint – represented by CEO Giuseppe Simone and anti-money laundering manager Gianluca Tannoia – and Sisal Group.
